Pataleshwar Mandir Shirpur (पाताळेश्वर मंदिर) is situated in main market of Shirpur. It is the temple of God Shiva (Pataleshwar Shivling – पाताळेश्वर शिवलिंग). The temple trust has their big hall for various functions.
History – Pataleshwar Mandir Shirpur
Holnanthe (होळनांथे) is the small village under Shirpur Tehsil. Ahilya Bai Holkar (अहिल्या बाई होळकर) was ruling this area 400 years ago. God Shiva came in her dreams and told her that He is hidden underground in Shirpur where the temple is now located.
She came to Shirpur and started the search of God Shiva. After lot of searching, She found a Shivling which was burried underground, hence called Pataleshwar. On the same place, she built the Pataleshwar temple.
What temple trust do in day?
Temple trust having two times pooja to worship God Pataleshwar. One time meal free for the beggers around the temple. The trust as well as some business man of Shirpur funded the meal. Trust distribute clothes to beggers once in year at the time of “Dashera”.

Pataleshwar Mandir located in the main market. It’s the center of Shirpur city. The area called Pataleshwar Mandir chawk. You can ask to any man or women in the city that where is Pataleshwar Mandir, they will tell you the path.
How to reach
You can reach to Pataleshwar Mandir by walking or by auto rickshaw. Distance is 1 KM approximately from Shirpur Bus Stand.
